Making the Leap: Christopher Small’s Visionary Musicology

Danae Stefanou

Danae Stefanou is a Lecturer at the Department of Music Studies, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She studied Music at the Universities of Nottingham (MA) and London (PhD) and worked at Royal Holloway, University of London as a Research Fellow and Visiting Lecturer until 2007. Danae is an active solo and ensemble performer, and participates in several local and international improvisation initiatives. She has published articles in periodicals such as Journal of the Royal Musical Association and Journal of Interdisciplinary Music Studies, and has compiled the first Greek translation of Michael Nyman’s Experimental Music: Cage and Beyond (in press, 2011).
